Report Card Day
Anderson 4 was closed from September 27 to October 4 due to damage and power outages from the hurricane. The first two days were eLearning days. State law requires us to make up the first three missed days, and the school board can waive days 4-6. Days 7-9 can only be waived by the State Board of Education. Anderson 4, as an eLearning district, can use up to five eLearning days annually. After much consideration, we’ve decided to wait until January to discuss makeup days with the school board. There is potential for the legislature to grant relief when their session begins, and we don’t want to add more stress to families and staff during this time. Our current calendar will remain unchanged for now. Anderson 4 Administration

Subject: School Closure Update for Thursday and Friday, October 3 & 4 Anderson 4 Family, We hope you are staying safe during these challenging conditions. Due to ongoing power outages and roads that remain impassable for our buses, we have made the difficult decision to cancel school on Thursday, October 3, and Friday, October 4. There will be no eLearning on these days, as more than half of our families and staff are still without power. In addition, please note that Monday, October 7 is a scheduled holiday, and school will remain closed. Tuesday, October 8 is a professional development day for our teachers, so there will be no classes for students on that day as well. The following schools will remain accessible from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and complimentary food will be provided from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. We encourage community members who need a secure environment and access to charging stations for their devices to visit. Please be advised that the buildings will have power, HVAC systems, and free public Wi-Fi available for use. Pendleton High LaFrance Elementary Townville Elementary Pendleton Elementary Mount Lebanon Elementary The safety of our students, staff, and families is our top priority, and given the current circumstances, it is not safe to hold classes. **School District Announcement: eLearning on Monday** Due to widespread power outages impacting many of our families, the school district will shift to eLearning on Monday. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and may extend eLearning days as needed to assess our campuses, and ensure all systems are fully operational before returning to in-person learning. We understand many families are without wifi and will work with students on missed work due to power outages. The safety of our students and staff are always at the center of our decisions. Teachers and staff will provide assignments and support during this time as best they can, and we will be flexible with deadlines to accommodate any challenges students may face in accessing online resources or completing their work. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges together. We will continue working to update our families as appropriate. Please stay safe. Thank you. Anderson 4

Alert
Anderson School District 4 will have an eLearning day on Friday, September 27, 2024 due to severe weather forecast for our area. The district has been in communication with the National Weather Service, Anderson County Emergency Management, and other school districts in the area this week as we considered our response. We are told to anticipate over 50 MPH wind gusts at 8:00 AM and over 40 MPH wind gusts until 2:00 Friday. There is potential for flash flooding in low lying areas due to 6-10 inches of rain that could begin Wednesday night. As a reminder, state regulations do not allow school districts to operate school buses with sustained winds of 30 MPH or wind gusts of 40 MPH. All after school activities for Thursday, September 26 will conclude by 6:00 PM. Each school will direct students and families how to complete eLearning assignments. All staff should be available via email during regular school hours. Thank you for your patience as we continue to monitor this weather related event.
