Open Enrollment Opens for Elementary Schools
Open Enrollment for elementary schools in Anderson School District Four families begins March 1, 2015. Parents who desire to enroll their student(s) in an elementary school outside of their attendance zone may exercise this option by submitting an application request during the month of March. Open enrollment for La France, Mount Lebanon, Pendleton, and Townville Elementary Schools will be honored based on a first come first serve basis as well as the availability of space. Additionally, parents opting for open enrollment will be responsible for providing transportation and may exercise this option through the highest grade level offered. Notification of school assignments for all open enrollment requests for the 2015-16 school year will be made by June 30, 2015. Applications are available at the District Administration Office at 315 East Queen Street in Pendleton. All applications must be returned to the District Administration Office by April 6, 2015. A student who has previously been granted Open Enrollment does not need to re-apply unless his/her address has changed. Questions should be directed to Dr. Joanne Avery (864-403-2000) or Mrs. Chris Hanak (403-2036).
Chromebook Anticipation Turns into Reality
7th graders at Riverside Middle School were so eager to receive their Chromebooks that they didn’t dare miss school yesterday. The deployment of the district Chromebooks was a huge hit with students. Each 7th grader was issued their own personal learning device; complete with a protective carrying case, portable thumb drive, and ear bud set. The 1:World rollout made for an exciting day full of smiles and satisfaction for both students and staff. There is a renewed excitement about learning and an awe about the capability these personal devices give for teacher creativity and student achievement.
